Eric Silberstein
CEO and Director
Eric Silberstein has served as Chief Executive Officer and Director for Activated Content since June 2005. Mr. Silberstein brings more than 25 years’ experience transforming technology and other enterprises into profitable growth businesses, as well as extensive relationships in the film, cable and electronic equipment industries. Mr. Silberstein will pilot the next phase of accelerated growth and help shape Activated Content’s strategy in the international entertainment markets.
Prior to joining Activated Content, Mr. Silberstein served as CEO for startup technology companies CanCall and SH Digital Images, which were developed and merged into public companies or sold for cash and stock. He spearheaded the commercialization of Biozyme Systems Inc. intellectual property, and formed and operated the U.S. Bank ITC. As chairman and CEO of Emerald Seafood Group, Mr. Silberstein built the natural resource complex of ESI Marine Ltd., Seacatcher Fisheries Inc. and Emerald Seafoods Inc. into a worldwide company. Years of corporate finance experience with Merrill Lynch capital markets brought him into close working relationships with many of the top Northwest U.S. public and private companies.
Mr. Silberstein graduated from American University with a BA and MA in international economics and finance. His public sector experience includes senior staff positions in the U.S. Congress, and Presidential appointee positions in the Departments of Transportation and Commerce.
David Cannon
President and Director
David Cannon has served as President and Director of Activated Content since December 2004. Mr. Cannon has over 25 years experience launching new ventures and turnarounds; his expertise includes identifying innovative uses for existing capacities, strategic sales and marketing, global logistics, and government relations.
Prior to joining Activated Content, he founded and served as president of Columbia Rail Intermodal Systems, a short-haul rail and transportation logistics service utilizing the national rail system to provide a faster, lower cost and eco-friendly alternative to overland trucking. During the dotcom crash, Mr. Cannon developed a strategic partnership to facilitate the successful turnaround of Prepared Response Inc., a privately held technology company and developer of emergency response solutions for the public and private sector. In the late 1990’s, Mr. Cannon was Senior Vice President for Rich Shipping USA, the agent of Rich Shipping Company Limited (Hong Kong), an exclusive agent for China Shipping Container Lines. His work included setting up North American operations, running the Seattle office, strategic marketing analysis, and FMC compliance.
During the perestroika and post-Soviet era of the late 1980’s to mid 1990’s, Mr. Cannon became renowned as a pioneer in Russian Far East-US trade and transportation relations. As co-founder and president of East Asia Company, he operated a series of historic charter flights and public-private exchanges between the western US and the regional governments of the eastern Soviet Union, initiating business development projects in the timber, fisheries, and tourism and shipping sectors. He was a partner in the first Russian-American timber joint venture, which purchased waste lumber from state factories and value-added for export to the Japanese housing market.
Mr. Cannon is a world-class competitive runner, ranked in the world’s top 10 in his age group and the 2007 US National Masters Champion in both the 10,000 and 1,500 meters events.
Evan Hill
CTO
Evan Hill has served as Chief Technology Officer of Activated Content since September 2006. He brings ten years of diverse experience managing technical projects, both within the software industry and in traditional companies as well. Mr. Hill was first involved in the commercial application of watermarking technology in 1999. At Activated Content, Evan is responsible for envisioning and architecting future initiatives and overseeing day to day technical operations.
Prior to Activated Content, Evan served full tours in a variety of different Seattle area technology companies. These companies included VacationSpot.com (acquired by Expedia), ThinkShare Mobile Construction Software, AudioTrack Watermark Solutions, and Critical Domain. Evan has variously served as acting CTO, VP of Engineering, Director of Engineering, Director of Quality Assurance, Program Manager, Director of Professional Services, Asst. Development Lead, and Quality Assurance Lead.
Evan graduated from Colorado College where he focused on cognition and systems theory which he has applied to design disciplines within the software industry. Other experiences include achievement of Eagle Scout rank and three years as a wildland firefighter on the Wyoming Hotshots.
